Flare is something that gives comfort and free movement, rather than restrict and suppress. It was a eureka moment when my dancer daughter Priya started wearing flared skirts and swaying to different tunes. People stated noticing and enquiring about these skirts, and thus came about the idea of MotifTribe.

What was most popular from all her dance costumes were the panelled skirts with ultra wide flares. My stint with a course in apparel designing gave me a more nuanced understanding about fabrics, cuts, drapes, drafting and pattern making.

When dance marries design, nothing can stop it from giving birth to a new creation.

This collaborative effort is an ode to femininity and grace.
